Injuries are Getting Better

I'm a bit worried about our current injuries and lack of squad depth. Like every other Gooner I agree that we need to make a few signings. Our squad looked as thin as Kieran Gibbs' arm against Fenerbahce last night with quite a number of players out injured.

With these casualties available our group would look a lot better, nonetheless we still hunger for those signings.

Speaking to Arsenal.com Wenger said

Koscielny
He's like a boxer who had a hard fight the night before; lots of blood around his eye and a deep cut. He is suspended for Saturday anyway but let's hope he recovers for next Tuesday [against Fenerbahce]. It will be short because the cut is very deep. Hopefully it will be alright.

Vermaelen
He is out running. He's on the pitches again. But there's still a good few weeks to go for him to get his fitness. We have Nacho back and Thomas soon back so that's all good news for us.

Miyaichi
He is back in full training now. He will be involved this season in the first-team squad. Hopefully very soon because he's now getting fit.

Other
The news is quite positive at the moment. Of course we have some players who I will need to consider because of the accumulation of the international game and then the Premier League and Champions League matches. I will have to make a deeper analysis tomorrow, and on Saturday morning.

Nacho Monreal playing a few minutes last night brings back good quality back-up for the perennially-injured Gibbs. Monreal only played for a couple of minutes; but the fact that he's fit enough to compete is great!

When Koscielny got a muay-thai kick to the face I was worried that he might have a concussion, but thankfully he'll almost definitely be back for the Spurs game on 1 September. Vermaelen returning from a back injury is also positive although physioroom.com only expect him to be back in full training on 22 September. Arteta will hopefully be returning on 28 September.

Miyaichi's return comes at the perfect time now that Oxlade-Chamberlain is injured. The Ox is a better player at the moment, but Miyaichi has shown promise (not that much in this pre-season, but previously). Hopefully after some minutes on the pitch his full potential will shine through.

I think we really need another striker/wing as I think that is where we're most bare. Benzema would be ideal!
